On March 13, 2010 the 28th Annual St. Pat’s in Five Points entertained over 30,000 people in the eclectic shopping district of Five Points. Not only did the Five Points Association give the community a fun festival with numerous bands and events, it also did its part to protect the environment and festival goers.
Three years ago festival planners started a recycling program for St. Pat’s in Five Points. Since the beginning of the program nearly 6 tons of waste has been recovered from the festival. At this year’s festival, over 3,700 pounds of plastic, aluminum and cardboard were recycled.
Through a partnership with Budweiser of Columbia St. Pat’s in Five Points also helped to give back to the community through Alert Cabs. There were 240 Alert Cabs used during the 2010 festival, a record number for the program which has been in place the last four years. Checker Yellow Cabs were right outside of the festival gates and Budweiser provided the first 10 dollars of festival goers cab ride home.
